A BRIEF HISTORY:
Day of the Immigrant was first celebrated in 2010. SSIP, then a small grassroots initiative with no formal structure, led a march through downtown Naperville to bring attention to the need for comprehensive immigration reform. The march and celebration ended with a day of community service. In the years following, the event grew to include a special program to recognize the contributions of immigrants to the community and a day cultural & resource fair.
EVENT OBJECTIVES:
SSIP hopes to continue the growth of the organization and bring valuable information to immigrants of all nationalities.
