SSIP is committed to community organizing for the rights of immigrants in the southwest suburbs of Chicago through education, civic engagement, and advocacy. SSIP envisions a suburban immigrant community that is organized and ready to tackle community challenges. One of SSIP’s main goals is to train community members to be the local leaders within the organization and their community.
Education: Training and tools needed to increase awareness in the community on various issues, such as immigration, education, health, economic justice, among others.
Civic Engagement: We prepare community and allies to participate in the systems of local, state and national politics, organize citizenship workshops, and non-partisan voter registration.
Advocacy: Leadership development through our core group. Fighting for pro-immigrant legislation at the local, state, and National level including any policy initiatives that benefit undocumented and other immigrants.
